cardiomyopathy

A disease of the heart muscle that can result in heart failure. Two types exist: dilated or hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Dilated cardiomyopathy is associated with insufficient taurine in the diet. Pet food manufacturers add taurine to pet-food sold for cat.
