progeny test

Performing a test mating/s of a cat (organism) to obtain progeny (offspring) for observation, to obtaine information about that individual cats (organisms) genotype or genetic merit. E.g. Testing for the presence of recessive alleles, or testing the mode of inheritance of particular alleles.
